The Global Brain I believe that "we could build a real ‘World Encyclopedia’ with a true ‘planetary memory for all mankind’…
...knitting all the intellectual workers of the world through a common interest".
"50% of the brain cells are killed off through apoptosis in the first year of life. Those which don’t match the challenges in the baby’s environment are the ones to go. It is the principle of “to him who hath it shall be given, from he who hath not even what he hath shall be taken away” at work".
"Later in adulthood, studies have shown that at any time point a proportion of our brain is *dormant* (“under-exercised” may be preferable) whilst the other is machining away — depending on the task at hand. For example, if we’re reading Candide by Voltaire in French we access our left hemisphere and if we’re making a mathematical estimate we access our right lobes".
Academic research postulates we are using only 10% of our brain processing power and others contradict this postulation:

"It may be possible that this C-model of consciousness may help us to locate where consciousness actually resides (physically) in the brain. Over time, neuroscientists have isolated specific areas in our lobes and cortex which govern our ability to communicate; information travels in via our primary auditory and visual cortex to the posterior speech zone. This zone encompasses the Wernicke area and from there the signals traverse towards Broca's area before reaching the primary motor cortex which allows us to say the words we read aloud. Likewise, there are zones in our brains which are command/control nodes to enable us to articulate our physiological movements, e.g. blink our eyes, raise our arms. Meanwhile our creativity has been established by neuroscientists to derive mostly in the right hemisphere of our brains; this is explained in Robert J. Sternberg's book, Handbook of Creativity".

"Next, our understanding of how culture affects our brains and the way in which it stores that knowledge as well as evolve with it has been commented upon in books such as Brain, Culture and the Human Spirit by James B. Ashbrook. With the collaboration element, the American Optometric Association has written about vision being the " collaboration between the eyes and the brain ". There is also research from Gazzaniga et the from the University of California Davis on the Collaboration Between the Hemispheres of a callosotomy Patient as well as Jacqueline Liederman's The Dynamics of Interhemispheric Collaboration and Hemispheric Control. What Cheats Work For Gpsphone Poekemon Fire Red
A mistake in the Oscars
When the last shot faded black and white and Celine Dion's voice was silent, I was left with a void. An unjust neglect had left off the list of honorees this year to an artist who had much to do, at least indirectly, with the eighty-third version of the Oscars.
I mean, Satoshi Kon, film director and producer of some of the most original animated films of Japanese cinema.
first thing I saw of Satoshi Kon was his participation as a writer in a short called "Magnetic Rose", 1995, part of the trilogy "Memories" I saw one night in the time spent Cinemax still good movies. At that time I had no idea who he was Satoshi Kon and all I had seen was Japanese animation "Spirited Away" by Hayao Miyazaki. In "Magnetic Rose" scrap astronauts found abandoned space station, surrounded by the remains of many spacecraft. The space station is inhabited by the ghost of an opera singer named Eva, who is dedicated to seduce unwary space travelers. It is impossible not to see Eva without evoking the Lady 3Jane of "Neuromancer" by William Gibson.
Here you can see the trailer for "Memoirs."
"Perfect Blue", 1997, is the first animated feature from Satoshi Kon. A psychological thriller that tells the story of Mima kirigoe, lead singer of pop group "CHAM!", Who decides to quit music to pursue acting. How Mima would imagine that his decision was going to hurl into an abyss where reality and fiction are confused and dangerous mirror image can become its worst enemy. This film is a clear example of the dark and twisted style of Satoshi Kon, who for some embodies the film version of Slipstream.
Darren Aronofsky, director known for "Requiem for a Dream," and this year for "The Black Swan, bought the film rights in the United States. Of an expert source (Jaime Valero Zonafandon ) I find that the objective was to film the scene in the bathroom with Jennifer Connolly in "Requiem for a Dream," but I think Aronofsky's relationship with this film is not limited to this . "The Black Swan," which Natalie Portman earned the best actress Oscar nomination and Aronofsky for Best Director and Best Picture for this year, has many elements in common with "Perfect Blue ", that way we the spectators were as confused as the protagonist by the vague boundary between what is real and what is imagined, dissociation of personality, color palette, and the oppressive environment ... I would even say that some of the scenes are almost identical shot by shot.
I'm not saying that "Black Swan" is an imitation or a plagiarism. This is a sincere tribute to an artist to the work of one of his colleagues. Aronofsky plays and recombine the ingredients of "Perfect Blue" with many of his own to make an original creation inspired shared with the same force and brutal emotional impact psychological.
Pictures of "Perfect Blue" can be seen here :
But the best known work of Satoshi Kon's "Paprika", 2006, about a psychiatrist who uses technology that allows the therapist to enter the dreams of others. Some say that Christopher Nolan was inspired by "Paprika" for his film "The Source" ("Inception", 2010), nominated for eight Academy Awards and won four of them.
is currently in production a version of "Paprika" with real actors, directed by Wolfgang Petersen, the director of "The Neverending Story" and "Enemy Mine." Here you can see a trailer for "Paprika" :
His other creations are "Millennium Actress" , 2001, a dream documentary on the life and work of a Japanese actress, who runs several centuries of Japanese history; "The Tokyo Godfathers" , 2003, his only Cutting film not fantastic, and animated series "Paranoia Agent" , 2004.

Satoshi Kon died on August 24, 2010, without having yet reached age 47 old and leaving unfinished his last film, "The Machine of Dreams , a story whose main characters are all robots. In May he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and predicted a maximum of six months, six months unable to fulfill. Shortly before his death, Kon left a farewell message on his blog . I have no idea of \u200b\u200bJapanese, but thanks to Wikipedia, I found an English translation led me to a Castilian version . Really worth reading.
was his decision not to disclose his illness. For this reason, the news of his death was a huge surprise to his audience and followers. He died as they wish in their own home with his wife, after having said goodbye to his parents and his closest friends.
As if a ghost in this room with me, a slight shiver me look over your shoulder. This next June be 46 years old and, indeed, I have not made even one percent of what I came to do in this world. I cross my fingers for a more generous than the meager that it took Satoshi Kon.

and mulling over the timing and trying to convince me that it is not yet time for much heat as that Mr. Lorenzo is determined to throw, I realize that, " is not precisely what we do? Warm in any circumstance exploded prematurely without thinking that we can start a fire around us and we are not provided with water that put out the flames of anger. And all because the hole in our ozone layer lets more harmful rays pass to fan the flames of our Ego. And most "Funny" yet is that this contamination has not been caused by external agents as in the case of our planet but quite the contrary, this layer to be gradually ruining our interior emotional consequences of pollution which is constantly submitted by non-self-talk with ourselves and set limits on that negative attitude instead of giving us permission to be driven by the emotional register than settle flames that burn inside and can cause much devastation around us.

In the Rain, River and Other Water Names
Hala is a third year student of engineering. One day, arriving late to a their math classes, receives a strange call on his cellphone. Is an unknown number and no one speaks the other side of the line. Only hear a sound, as does the empty shell of a snail when one's ear when. Hala
forget for a moment of his class in mathematics, complex variables and final exams. It is raining outside. For some magical reason, Hala know that what you hear on your cell phone is the sound of water, the waves breaking on a beach, maybe an ocean. No one speaks, no one breathes on the phone because it is water that has been called.
A Hala would think that if you call the water by his real name, this will tell you something but this slight rumor. "Pacific Ocean", she says, beginning his attempt to solve the riddle ...
This is the beginning of "Water Names," a tale of Kij Johnson included in the collection "The Best Science Fiction and Fantasy of the Year, Volume Five, edited by Jonathan Strahan.
I have also understood that "Water Names" is one of the stories included in the anthology of Kij Johnson, "Mythical Girl," which launched this project Fluid Friday, April 8 at 8 pm in the Orquideorama Four years after its publishing debut with "Water / Zero."
Yes, Kij Johnson already in Medellín and will be at the launch of his book as part of their participation in Fractal'11. Hernan Trujillo Viviana Ortiz and have done it again.
Meanwhile, at the Museum of Antioquia, Luis Fernando Peláez Antioquia artist has an exhibition of one of the names of water: "The River". He is one of the most important contemporary artists of our country, in 1980 with Doris Salcedo shared first place in the National Salon of Artists.
"The River" is a pair of large plants fully occupy the two temporary halls of the museum and several smaller-format works. Huge handmade canoes on tree trunks occupy the space as if they had run aground after the flood that brought the girl last year to many municipalities in Colombia.
are flooded. Water, paradoxically, is not outside but inside them, and here and there, one other survivor of the tragedy waiting patiently to go down the water: a dog, a cow, a house or the remains of a house.
Other facilities, small format, show tiny characters confronted with huge desolate landscapes, the ocean, fog, black and cloudy skies before the storm.
Water in its various states (rain, river, fog, sea) has served permanent fascination Luis Fernando Peláez. He already had a solo exhibition at the museum in 1996, when it still was located in the former headquarters, which today is home to the meeting. On that occasion, the show also had one of the names of water: "Rain."
But water as a reference for Peláez not an end in itself but a metaphor for the history and the passage of time. "On one side is the natural time, which is the rain, which carries the water, which is present in the cycles of nature. At that time natural happens, appears or is derived from historical time. But beyond the historical aspect is the evocation, is going through and the spectator, and this is where the viewer interprets or complete their own version. "
Because water, and so the same time, you recall. These are the memories that these pictures wake up in each of the spectators. Memoirs personal, intimate, unique. As the names evoke water Hana attempts in the story of Kij Johnson, fragile memories of a past that no longer exists, or perhaps a future is yet to come.

penetrated the water and everything seemed to become damp, dark tones evening announced that dissolved the blue, came a pale light on the roof which then dropped their spoils mauve. The house was dissolved and fragile as the last piece of childhood to become an object drifting, weightless, without shade. Were the rains of my thirteen years of those days that port, returning these fleeting lines ...".

L or certainly not to write about. But I feel like banging the keys and let me take a moment to see what happens.
are many events that have happened in my life in recent times and here are, Pegaditas to me like a leech. That if you have molded in their original form, which I am happy because finally I could start sculpting diamonds and other rough stones that were inside me every day. It is not easy (who said yes) and I am aware that there is still much work ahead. But I'll be there, always at the bottom of the barrel but there are times when you falter (and call it somehow).
N or nothing happens, the important thing is falling apart, look at things from another perspective, with other eyes, as if he's doing is that you have before you, your other "I" I you purer, brighter, more secure, more essential with all its qualities, good and not so good but that accepts, not fight. With all its good and less good experiences, but Vividas. And with all that I'll stay with diamonds, the stones, my other self which is nothing more than I did myself, my qualities and my experiences. Because everything is part of a compendium to be my Self, my environment and my life, not that I have to live but which since I knew that I could choose, choose.

How Do U Simulate Tge Womanss Vigins
A Hit at the Oscars
"The Lost Thing" is a simple story. A young man is a day at the beach one thing missing. A huge thing, like a giant red coffee maker, mechanisms and little doors, with tentacles and a pair of arms like praying mantis, with bells on the ends. However, no one else seems aware of his existence. Despite its strange appearance, the thing lost is the personality of a puppy, playful and curious, and wins the sympathy of the boy, who is set to the task of finding their place in the world. Well, you can see it in full here (while not withdrawn by copyright):
Short Film "The Lost Thing", 2010.
is a story with a few weird and wonderful creatures living in the interstices of a city grid gray and full of smoke bouncing fireplaces, huge buildings with no windows and rusted pipes everywhere. It is an extremely bureaucratic world where everything has a place (except for lost things).
If the full video is no longer available, here you can see the trailer .
Shaun Tan brings to the screen his book, illustrated with amazing fidelity. Although it uses CGI and 3D modeling, all textures are originally meticulously drawn in pencil, painted by him in oil or acrylic, or collage of graphics produced by machines and technical tables, which achieves a dark futuristic dystopian city to Style 1984, which highlight by contrast the vivid colors of the abnormal things lost. So, Shaun Tan has achieved what Pepe Garcia Oliva described in Literary Corner as characters Bosch spaces concebidos por Edward Tufte o alguna pintura de Hopper .
Here you can see a five-minute documentary about the production :
Besides Oscar, "The Lost Thing" has been awarded at various festivals, such as the ANIMACOR 2010 in Spain, the Austin Film Festival and Chicago International Children's Film Festival in the United States. A total of about twenty awards and counting.
met Shaun Tan's work a couple of years ago in Medellín Book Festival and it was all thanks to the whim of Paula A friend of mine. She is a graphic designer, of which publish books and magazines, and has a passion for books. On this occasion, the book was outdated literally a book without words. Well, the title was only in words, "Immigrants", but the whole story was told exclusively with images. The original title is "The Arrival" (arrival), because about a parent who only venture across the sea to an unknown country, where language, customs and even the most everyday are foreign .
I must thank not only Paul, but John, who told me the whim of Paula and encouraged me to get a copy, and then I got in Bogotá a copy of the book "The Lost Thing."
The book was created while Tan was doing the animation of "The Lost Thing." Your interactions with storyboard artists and publishers of the film industry was crucial to the narrative in images it achieves in "Immigrants." In addition to his own experiences in traveling around the world and history of their parents, Chinese immigrants in southern Australia, several images inspired him: The New York, 1900, photographs of Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, city street scenes European, Asian or Middle Eastern, animals, plants, apartment interiors, photos of people in their daily activities.
Shaun Tan is an excellent illustrator, as can be seen on every page of "immigrants", the originals were made in pencil on paper. "Immigrants" was one of the ; ten best illustrated books of 2007, according to The New York Times. He was also nominated for a Hugo Award in 2008 for Best Related Book, like its author, for Best Professional Artist.
For its part, can be get the DVD with the short film "The Lost Thing" directory Madman Entertainment, Passion Pictures Australia. Extras include deleted scenes, sketches and pre-production art, reviews and interviews with the creators. The gift package comes with a booklet called "Abnormality Miscellaneous What is That?" , with original sketches of the creatures in the film.
On 27 February was the awards ceremony the Academy, version eighty-three. My favorite moment of the night was when they announced the prize for best animated short film, "The Lost Thing" by Australian artist Shaun Tan

"In reality, the only intelligence test the capacity of MIDE make tests intelligence. There are people that these tests are given very good! If you want to know how smart someone is, at least we should accept that intelligence involves much more than can be measured in an IQ test, should not include other questions? Like, for example, you know write a symphony? Can you interpret it? Can you manage a successful business? Can you dance? Can you write a poem that touches readers and makes them mourn? (...)
